Tom Daley | Tom Daley launches Made With Love knitting sets

Tom Daley launched his own brand of Made With Love knitting kits.

The 27-year-old Olympic gold medalist, who wowed fans with his poolside knitting in Tokyo 2020, unveiled his collection of kits to make vests, flamingo sweaters and even a £ 220 set to make a custom duvet.

The 1896 series – made from biodegradable and renewable pure wool – was named after the year of the first modern Olympic Games.

It contains 15 sets, including £ 30 for a wool hat, £ 70 for a scarf and £ 120 for a Flamin-GO For It sweater.

They all come with needles, thread, and swatches to create unique designs.

He said in a statement: “For the past two years, knitting has been my salvation. It was a form of mindfulness between training and competition and a way to pass the time while I was out and about or sitting at home during lockdowns.

“I take my knitwear everywhere and I feel like I’ve achieved something every time I do something new.

“I like to think knitting is making a comeback, so I look forward to people trying it out, if they haven’t already, and making things that they can actually wear.”

The athlete, who has three-year-old son Robbie with husband Dustin Lance Black, admitted ahead of the summer games that he would be preoccupied with his crafting hobby during his downtime at the event.

He said, “I have a lot of things that keep me busy, like my obsession with knitting and crocheting.

“I plan to bring a whole extra suitcase of yarn because I’m not allowed to leave the village to go to the shops. I want to make sure I have a good supply.”
