Diana Ross Fans Are Angry Over ‘Jeopardy!’ Contestants’ Wrong Answers

Singers were the category on Final Jeopardy!, Monday, and while famous crooner Tony Bennett seemed to know the right answer, so did contestant Margaret Chipowsky. “What 95-year-old singer were you thinking of?” asked host Ken Jennings. “‘Who is Tony Bennett?’ That’s right. So you will add $9,800. You end up with $18,800. Impressive. Big bet.” Unfortunately, the other two contestants weren’t as familiar with the genre. Both guessed Diana Ross. Diana Ross, who performed at the 2019 Grammys, has many fans. And many of them took to Twitter to express their dismay at the contestants, who didn’t know she was only 77 years old. In fact, so many fans were upset that Ross started trending on Twitter. Jennings defended candidate Finn Corrigan because he is only a sophomore in college. “To be fair, you’re only 75 years younger than Tony Bennett,” he said. “Generation, it’s a bit of a stretch.” Taking to Twitter herself, contestant Karen Johnson wrote: “Sincere apologies to the iconic Diana Ross! I didn’t really think you were the answer, but I was running out of time and had to write something!” Despite all the ruffled boa feathers, the memorable moment worked great for one contestant. “That means at $18,800, Margaret Chipowsky, you’re our Jeopardy! Masters,” Jennings said. “From Third Place to Jeopardy! Champ just like that.”
