  • 3:4:4:5:5 x 50g skein of Rowan Cotton Glacé in Chalk 827 (F)
  • 1:1:1:2:2 x 50g balls in Green Slate 844 (A)
  • 1:1:1:1:2 x 50g balls in each Bubbles 724 (B) and Sky 749 (G)
  • 1 x 50 g ball each in Ocher 833 (C), Baked Red 837 (D) and Persimmon 832 (E)
  • Pair of knitting needles of 2.75 mm and 3.25 mm

    How to knit a tank top step by step

    Cast on with needle size 2.75 and A 97 (109:121:135:151) sts.

    1st row (RS)K1, [p1, k1] break up. 2nd row P1, [k1, p1] break up. These 2 rows form a rib and are repeated in stripes as follows: 2 rows A, 4 rows B, 2 rows C, 6 rows D, 2 rows E, 4 rows B, 2 rows A, 6 rows D, 4 rows B, 2 rows C, 4 rows A. Switch to 3.25 mm needles and start with a row, work in stripes in MM as follows: 13 rows in F, 3 rows in G. These 16 rows form striped MM and are repeated. Continue until the back measures 33 (34:35:36:37) cm and finish with a row.

    next row (RS) K2 tog, K29 (31:34:37:42) turn and leave the remaining sts on a stitch holder. Knit each side of the neckline separately. Holding the strips correctly, dec 1 st at the neckline of the next 8 rows, then in the 2nd row, then in the 2nd 4th row, then in the 6th row and at the same time dec 1 st at the armhole of the 2nd and following row 3 (3:4:3:5) Rows from right side, then the 4th row. 12 (14:16:20:23) sts. Continue until front matches. Back to the beginning of the shoulder sculpt, ending with a p-row.

    armhole edges

    Sew left shoulder and neck band seam. Pick up with RS, 2.75 mm needles and B and knit 89 (95:101:109:115) sts evenly around armhole edge. Begin with a 2nd row, knit 4 rows of rib as on back piece. Switch to A and knit 1 row of rib. Cast off in rib. Close side seams.
