- 3:4:4:5:5 x 50g skein of Rowan Cotton Glacé in Chalk 827 (F)
- 1:1:1:2:2 x 50g balls in Green Slate 844 (A)
- 1:1:1:1:2 x 50g balls in each Bubbles 724 (B) and Sky 749 (G)
- 1 x 50 g ball each in Ocher 833 (C), Baked Red 837 (D) and Persimmon 832 (E)
- Pair of knitting needles of 2.75 mm and 3.25 mm

How to knit a tank top step by step
Cast on with needle size 2.75 and A 97 (109:121:135:151) sts.
1st row (RS)K1, [p1, k1] break up. 2nd row P1, [k1, p1] break up. These 2 rows form a rib and are repeated in stripes as follows: 2 rows A, 4 rows B, 2 rows C, 6 rows D, 2 rows E, 4 rows B, 2 rows A, 6 rows D, 4 rows B, 2 rows C, 4 rows A. Switch to 3.25 mm needles and start with a row, work in stripes in MM as follows: 13 rows in F, 3 rows in G. These 16 rows form striped MM and are repeated. Continue until the back measures 33 (34:35:36:37) cm and finish with a row.
Hold the strips correctly and cast off 5 (6:7:8:9) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. 87 (97:107:119:133) sts.** Dec 1 st at each end of the next 5 (7:9:11:13) rows, then in the following 5 (6:6:6:7) rows R, then in the 4th row. 65 (69:75:83:91) sts. Continue knitting straight until armhole measures 17 (18:19:20:21) cm, finish with a pR.
Shape shoulders and neck
next row (R) Cast off 4(5:5:7:8) sts, K until there are 11(12:14:16:18) sts on the right needle, turn and slip the remaining sts on one holder. Knit each side of the neckline separately. Bind off 1 st at the neck edge of the next 3 rows and at the same time, Cast off 4 (5:5:7:8) sts at the beginning (armhole edge) of the 2nd row. Bind off the remaining 4 (4:6:6:7) sts. With the right side, join the yarn of the right color back to the remaining sts, bind off the middle 35 (35:37:37:39) sts, K to the end. Complete to bring the first side together, invert shapes.
Crochet as described for Back to **. Dec 1 st at each end of the next 5 (7:9:11:13) rows, then on 0 (1:0:1:0) rows from RS. 77 (81:89:95:107) sts. Knit 1 row, ending with a WS row.
Form the front neck
next row (RS) K2 tog, K29 (31:34:37:42) turn and leave the remaining sts on a stitch holder. Knit each side of the neckline separately. Holding the strips correctly, dec 1 st at the neckline of the next 8 rows, then in the 2nd row, then in the 2nd 4th row, then in the 6th row and at the same time dec 1 st at the armhole of the 2nd and following row 3 (3:4:3:5) Rows from right side, then the 4th row. 12 (14:16:20:23) sts. Continue until front matches. Back to the beginning of the shoulder sculpt, ending with a p-row.
Cast off 4 sts (5:5:7:8) at the beginning of the next row and knit from RS. Knit 1 row. Bind off the remaining 4 (4:6:6:7) sts. On the right front side, join the yarn of the right color back into the remaining sts, cast off the middle 15 (15:17:17:19) sts, K to the last 2 sts, K 2 tog. Complete to bring the first side together, invert shapes.
Sew the right shoulder seam. With RS to the right and picking up needles size 2.75 and B and knit 46 (46:48:48:52) sts along the left side of the neckline, 15 (15:17:17:19) sts from mid front , 46 (46:19) sts. 48:48:52) sts on right side of neck, then 44 (44:46:46:48) sts from back. 151 (151:159:159:171) sts. Start with the 2nd row, knit 4 rows of rib as on the back piece and finish with a row from RS. Switch to A and knit 1 row of rib. Cast off in rib.
Sew left shoulder and neck band seam. Pick up with RS, 2.75 mm needles and B and knit 89 (95:101:109:115) sts evenly around armhole edge. Begin with a 2nd row, knit 4 rows of rib as on back piece. Switch to A and knit 1 row of rib. Cast off in rib. Close side seams.
