The holiday season is fast approaching and shoppers should be getting their lists ready for Christmas in Novinger on Saturday 19th November. Three shopping locations offer a variety of choices that are sure to have something for everyone that you need a gift for.

The 36th Country Christmas Craft Festival will be held at the Novinger School (off Highway 149, four blocks north of Highway 6) from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Over 70 stalls of all kinds of handicrafts will fill both gymnasiums and all hallways. Several new vendors are participating this year. Among the handmade goods for sale this year are repurposed/second chance items, items for babies and toddlers, woodworking projects, candles, hair accessories, various types of jewellery, knit and crochet items, wreaths and floral arrangements, embroidered and bleached Garments, woven and rope baskets, driftwood and antler art, carpets, jellies and marmalades, honey and beeswax ointments, hand painted and rural crafts.

Artisans will also sell all manner of fabric items and woven rugs, ornate gourds, scroll sawwork, goat’s milk baths and body products, primitive signs and rustic crafts, various types of artwork, custom t-shirts, and seasonal decorations. A bake sale (with homemade sweets) and food stand (with cinnamon rolls and cakes) will also be open during the activity. The history book “NOVINGER (ADAIR COUNTY), MISSOURI: The People, the Town and the Surrounding Communities” is available for perusal and sale right in the high school gym. Visitors should register at the front door for the free draws, which take place every half hour. Admission is by donation.

On the west side of town, the Novinger Community Center hosts a holiday bazaar from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring vintage and collectible items, crafts including tie-dye and tatted items, homemade goodies, jewelry, quilts, home decor, and direct selling products. Visitors should take route O towards the former city center and turn left at the caboose. The center is located next to the exhibition center.

Additionally, Shopper’s Delight will be held at the Novinger Firehouse on Hwy from 9am to 4pm. 6 in the east of the city. All kinds of direct sellers will be selling their wares along with some craft items, homemade groceries and more.

The Country Christmas Craft Festival and Holiday Bazaar are fundraisers for Novinger Renewal, Inc., a non-profit organization whose mission is to preserve the area’s history and improve the community. Renewal’s projects include the Novinger Log Homestead, community center, preservation of the former Methodist Church, galley restoration and various community events. The proceeds from Shopper’s Delight support the friends of the Novinger Fire Station in maintaining the building.
