Other activities

COVID VACCINATION – The Alliance City Department of Health is scheduling a Moderna COVID-19 immunization clinic for the updated bivalent booster shot from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on November 2 at the Alliance Area Senior Center, 602 W. Vine St. The clinic is available by appointment only. Schedule by calling the agency’s call center at 330-249-1013. Do not contact the senior center or the health department. The bivalent booster clinic is for those aged 18 and over and having completed the first series of COVID-19 vaccine and 2 months since the last booster.

FREE HEARING CLINIC – 12:30 Nov 14. Call the center for an appointment.

SOAP BAG WORKSHOP – 1pm Nov 9.Join volunteers as they assemble and create soap bags. The center continues to accept donations of cotton yarn and soap bars (preferably mild). Free basic stitch crochet lessons after the soapbag workshop from 2pm to 3pm. Learn the stitch, the abbreviation for pattern, and the symbol for chart pattern.

PINE RIB TREE GARLAND INSTRUCTIONS CROCHET LESSON 1 p.m. Nov. 16. Students learn how to rib and how to increase in crochet. Basic crochet skills are required. The student must bring their own 5.5mm (I) size crochet hook. All other materials will be provided. The cost is $25 per person. Class size is limited and masks are mandatory when working closely together. Call the center to register.

NEW BLANKETS, PULLOVERS REQUIRED – The center is collecting new blankets and throws to distribute to those in need in the coming cold days. Donations of new blankets and throws can now be dropped off at the center until November 30th.

CHRISTMAS LIGHT CHAIN ​​RECYCLING – The senior center partners with Keep Alliance Beautiful to recycle Christmas lights that no longer work. Fairy lights can be handed in at the center from Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Rivers Casino Tour – Tuesday. Participants receive $10 in free spins. Membership fee is $34; Non-members pay $39. Call to make your reservation. Departure time is 8am; Return is around 5 p.m
